Motorola SL Oncore OEM GPS Module
With only a few extra components and an antenna, this module can be used to build an eight channel GPS receiver which will work with many third party mapping applications on your PC, laptop or PDA. To make life a bit easier, I will supply a copy of the manufacturers Engineering Note on CD, along with a copy of the configuration software with each order.
The unit can be configured to output messages in NMEA and Motorola binary formats.
Please note - this is a receiver module only. A basic knowledge of electronics is required to complete the project.
Antenna - £20.00
A Motorola GPS Antenna, with approx 5m of cable terminating onto a MCX connector for use with the GPS module detailed above.
Based upon information from the Garmin website, the following units can also use this antenna:
With a suitable adaptor (i.e. MCX to BNC), this antenna can be used with many other GPS receivers!
The unit has a built in magnetic base which will keep it firmly fixed onto a suitable metal surface like a car roof.
